Alongside his specialist clinical work, Dr Hiten Halai is passionate about education, research, and advancing the field of gum health. He has held teaching positions at both King’s College London and Queen Mary University, where he guided dental students and postgraduate trainees in providing surgical and non-surgical treatments for gum disease.
Dr Halai also spent time at the world-renowned Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children as an Honorary Clinical Researcher, where he completed his doctoral thesis focused on gum disease in children with rare immune conditions.
A Recognised Leader in His Field
Dr Halai is regularly invited to speak at national and international dental conferences, where he shares the latest techniques and insights in periodontology. His research has been published in leading dental journals, and he contributes to ongoing professional development by producing educational webinars for platforms like the British Dental Association, Dentistry.co.uk, Dentinal Tubules, and Agilio Software.
As a Key Opinion Leader for TePe and Oral-B UK, Dr Halai also plays a role in guiding innovation and best practice in oral care products used by professionals and patients alike.

Supporting the Next Generation of Dentists
Education is at the heart of Dr Halai’s professional mission. He is the co-founder of EduDent UK, a specialist training academy that helps dentists build confidence and skills in modern periodontal treatments — from non-surgical therapy to advanced gum grafting techniques.
Dr Halai has mentored many up-and-coming periodontists across the UK, particularly in his main interest of minimally invasive grafting procedures for gum recession — helping to improve both outcomes and patient comfort.
